Jammy Journey travels to Chala Number 6 Chiang Mai and stays in 2 different room styles to give a thorough review. We began our epic Chiang Mai/Chiang Rai combination trip by staying at Chala Number 6 right inside the old walled city area of Chiang Mai. The hotel looked promising when we booked it, but turned out to be a really fantastic experience that surpassed all of our expectations by a huge margin! For comparison sake, we paid 2800 baht per night here or about 90 dollars.
Chala Number 6 Chiang Mai is a small boutique hotel located in a great location within the old city. It is right across from the beautiful temple Wat Chedi Luang and is walking distance to everything within the city. After renting our car at the airport, we arrived at the hotel within a few minutes drive and they had parking waiting for us.
Our check-in was warm and friendly. It was also very efficient. The lobby was beautiful and featured the hotel mascots Lucky and Cody; 2 adorable teddy bears. Within a few minutes, we were shown to our room, which was on the third floor. We booked a superior room, which was their least expensive room, but were graciously upgraded to a deluxe room instead. The rooms were similar in style, but the deluxe was larger. After breakfast and a meeting with the management the next day, we were upgraded again to a Jacuzzi deluxe room, which was a really nice touch of extra hospitality!
Both of our rooms were comfortable, with a cozy bed that felt great to relax upon. The bathrooms were nice and featured a great shower with hot water of therapeutic pressure. You probably already know how important a good shower is to us from all of our other reviews! Lol… The rooms had some lounging furniture, lots of storage and all the things any traveler could need while on the road. There were even small versions of Cody and Lucky to cuddle in the room. So cute!
Our deluxe room at Chala Number 6 Chiang Mai had a nice size balcony overlooking the pool. Meanwhile, the Jacuzzi deluxe had an private outdoor fenced-in area with a large round jetted tub. It was like a small spa retreat of our own. Very stylish! We found great comfort in both rooms and slept restfully here in the peace and quiet of this beautiful sanctuary.
Chala Number 6 Hotel is designed in contemporary Thai style with classic elements. It is vibrant in color scheme and walled with a central courtyard containing the pool, sitting areas and gardens. The décor was really stunning throughout and the landscaping brought nature right into the city for us to enjoy. There were even some adorable pet chickens that won our hearts!
We did not use the gym at Chala Number 6, but we did use the pool. The pool was nice and made for an excellent swim. We always like to find resorts with pools made for actual swimming, instead of just lounging. Remember, we are avid swimmers, going 1 km every day in the pool! We really enjoyed walking around the property, as every detail was lovely and worth consideration.
We ate breakfast (included in price) every day and had dinner one evening at the restaurant. We also attended free afternoon tea at the pool bar area. All the food was delicious and expertly prepared. Service was awesome and very friendly. In fact, all the staff at Chala Number 6 Chiang Mai were great in every way! We felt very welcome and truly embraced the hospitality offered to us.
We loved the location of Chala Number 6 Hotel and walked all over Chiang Mai day and night. Nothing in the old city was out of reach. On Sunday, the walking street night market took place right in front of the hotel, as well. If you are driving, be sure to return to the hotel before the market starts or you will have to break a few traffic laws to get back… lol
We have absolutely no complaints about Chala Number 6 Chiang Mai. We feel the hotel offers an excellent value and we understand why it is so highly rated across all booking platforms. The management here is hands-on, which is great and makes a huge difference in the day-to-day operations. We hope that the hotel stays in business for a very long time and prospers. We want to come back and stay with them again next time we are in Chiang Mai. Congratulations Chala Number 6!
