Jammy Journey provides a complete and impartial Mira Montra review from our recent stay. Is the resort a great place to stay? Find out!
Mira Montra Koh Mak was the third stop on our island trip. We had booked a Hilltop Seaview Room for only 1300 baht per night (about 43 US dollars). This was a special price offered to us through Agoda, our exclusive travel booking platform.

Mira Montra was close to Seavana, making it a short trip to transfer accommodations. It is slightly further west on the island and also on the north shore with the same lovely views of the Gulf of Thailand enjoyed at Seavana. This time our view of Koh Kham was from the side, rather than from the front.
Check-in at the resort was fast and easy and our room was ready for us without waiting. We were given a ride with our luggage up the steep hill to the room. The room was a basic hotel-style room, but was very clean and comfortable. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was nicely laid out for functionality. The shower here worked well and had decent water pressure and temperature.

The view from our room was lovely. It overlooked the entire resort and the beachfront area. It seems that the hillside rooms were the most popular, given their much lower cost compared to the beachfront style rooms. Mira Montra was the busiest resort of any that we stayed at, with most rooms occupied during our stay.
The resort had a nice beachfront location, although the beach was not as clean as the pristine Seavana. There was a guy cleaning it, but in all objectivity, he did a pretty poor job, as garbage was often seen around the entire resort and particularly on the beach. The water was beautiful, however, and the sandy bottom in the water invited us for a swim each day, much to our delight! We also used the beautiful infinity pool each day, but found it to be less friendly for actual serious swimming, simply due to its color scheme and the tendency to crash hard into the blending color walls when doing laps.

We had breakfast and dinner at the resort each day. Prices on food were a bit high here, but I guess its how they make up for the lower priced room. The food was fine and quite tasty. Food service was hit or miss, depending on the server, but was often quite slow. On 1 occasion, we waited a half hour for 2 simple fruit smoothies after a long and dehydrating hike! Not a big deal, but considering the large staff, it seemed strange that food service was largely unpredictable.
The location of Mira Montra Koh Mak made it a convenient place to explore the far western side of the island from. We did just that! We hiked all around and saw the entire west end, including some beautiful vistas. Unfortunately, the road dead ends at one point, so we had to follow the path all the way back to the resort…
Mira Montra was very natural in its layout and simplistic in design. It had a really nice, relaxing vibe and the longer we stayed, the more we liked it here. We also feel that of all the resorts we stayed at Mira Montra offered BY FAR the best overall value and experience of any of our Koh Mak accommodations. Seavana was great, but at 4.5 times the price… Mira Montra was close behind and cheap. It’s hard to beat…
Mira Montra also offered motorbike rentals cheap and the bikes looked to be in nice condition, as was typical of most Koh Mak resorts we saw. Overall, we would recommend this resort for all types of travelers, since it seemed to accommodate everyone from the wealthy Europeans to the groups of 8 young Thais all sharing 1 room!

Our one bad experience had nothing at all to do with the resort and was actually handled very well… We found a HUGE huntsman spider in our room right before turning in for bed. Adam tried to chase it outside, but it was too smart and fast to get rid of without hurting it. Adam refused to kill it, so we called the front desk for help. They sent 2 guys immediately to capture and release the spider outside with their bare hands. Great work guys! Thanks for not hurting it!

Thank you to the staff of Mira Montra for a very lovely stay. We hope to see you all again someday.
