Seavana Resort Koh Mak was the second stop on our island getaway. Seavana has a very good reputation as one of (if not THE) very best resorts on Koh Mak, so it was an absolute MUST Stay for us! Our beach front suite cost us 5900 baht per night (about 200 US dollars), making it by far the most expensive accommodations of this trip. Seavana is located due north of our last stop at By the Sea, on the north side of the island, closer to the west side, than the east.

Our first impression of Seavana was dominated by the incredible beach front and blue water! The color of the Gulf of Thailand here was almost as bright and lovely as in Maldives! The water spoke to us immediately, despite it being somewhat rough, and we could not wait long to get in…

Our check-in was very professional and featured a welcome drink. The staff brought our bags to the room, which turned out to be really wonderful. While not new and a bit worn, the suite was huge, well laid out and featured 2 levels of the best views one could ever wish for! Let’s look at the suite in greater detail…

Entry was into a foyer with a desk and closets. To the left, the room opened up to include a huge comfy bed, a small couch and an entertainment center. To the right of the entrance, opened up the large spa bathroom, complete with a opulent shower and outdoor round bathtub in a private walled garden. Very lovely! The back garden also contained the stairs to access the upper floor, which was simply a large covered sundeck with some lounging furniture. The upper floor and main room downstairs featured perfect views of the wonderful water, complete with every shade of blue imaginable. It was very impressive!
We really liked the nice shower here at Seavana Resort Koh Mak. The bathtub was less successful, since its round design was awkward, especially for tall Adam, who never fits in these things… lol. The upper deck provided a great private natural photo setting which we used extensively during our stay!
The resort featured a beautiful scenic beachfront area, complete with lots of photo spots and a large infinity pool. We did not use the pool here, since we spent all of our time swimming and snorkeling in the Gulf. The property is very large and also contained a large pond with beautiful geese, a nice restaurant and a bar area that seemed to be closed now.
We ate breakfast and dinner here at the restaurant both days. All meals were quite good and reasonably priced. Service was well intentioned, but not always great. The staff seemed to have difficulty focusing and often made mistakes during food service. This happened basically at every meal, but it did not spoil the experience for us in any way.

The swimming in the Gulf here was extraordinary. The sandy bottom and shallow water made swims completely relaxing. Snorkeling was a miss, with little to see and poor visibility. It was a fun for a short time, but did not really pay many rewards. The highlight was some fish and crustaceans in some large seagrass beds. We loved the water here and found ourselves not wanting to get out to eat or do much else…
Seavana is directly across from Koh Kham, which can be accessed by kayak, swimming or boat at the neighboring hotel: Koh Mak Resort. We did not take the trip,, since the beach here was already great and we did not have high hopes for snorkeling to be much better on the smaller island.

The one real downside to our stay was the amount of animals in our room at night. We had mice both nights, with them really being loud and waking us several times. On the second evening, we also had something much larger nesting in the roof, which made lots of noise for about an hour before it left to go hunting at night. The mice ate all of our soap… lol. It’s the price of being really close to nature, but it was fine!
Seavana was not close to much else in terms of walkability. You could go next door to Koh Mak Resort, but that was about it. This is definitely a place to have a bicycle, motorcycle or gocart rental, which were all available directly from the resort at fair prices.

Seavana Resort Koh Mak was a great stay and seemed to be priced about right. It was the best place we stayed in some respects, but the value was about average. The property was definitely amazing and really had the benefit of one of the best beaches on the island. For this reason alone, it is easy to recommend! Thanks to the kind staff for a nice stay!
